The top one is a 6950 2Gig retail card. The bottom one is a 6950 1Gig engineering sample. I've noticed engineering samples still having the ATI logo before.
AMD just announced price drops too for the 6950 2GB, down to $269, the 1GB version is only $30 cheaper though. Its a good time to buy a graphics card!!
I haven't been following graphics lately (the ol' 4890 still chugs through 1080p Source mods, lol). Newegg has a few 1GB versions for a little north $250. If they fall to $240, that would be great!
I think the review was summed up quite nicely. If you are gaming at resolutions greater than 1080p, you already have the budget to get a 2GB graphics card. Otherwise, 1GB is fine.
the pricing of graphics cards is getting really attractive these days..
the prices of HD5850/70/GTX480 had basically kept unchanged at $260/$370/$500 since 09'Q4, but now, it seems just like a free performance upgrade with 6950/570/580 replacing their price tag respectively :)
time to build a new gaming PC together with sandy bridge, yup
Allot of people are waiting for the Fusion review :) At this point nobody has a Zacate/Ontario notebook to test but they are comming: - Lenovo x120e should be available next month - Acer AO522 is allready available for preorder but will only get to the users in 1 to 3 weeks - Dell DM1z also scheduled for next month
Actually, I could go down to Microcenter today and buy one. I'm not in the market for it though. I think they have a couple Acers. One of them is under $400 and has a DVD drive.
How is it getting such a crappy battery life? 3 hours 20 mins in MobileMark07? I understand it is using a 15.6 inch screen, and that is probably the cheapest "6 cell" battery they can find due to the price point, but still that battery life is pathetic considering the power draw of the E series of processors.
Is it showing Frames Per Second or some other rendering thing ?
I would assume that if it were FPS, then I want the highest running, but if its Rendering or something I think I want shortest running graphs...
I am not a Gamer, I have a 30 monitor, 12GB of RAM, ASUS Rampage, i7 940 stock cooler and I see that my photo editing program is delayed now pushing an older video card to the 2560 resolution. I am leaning towards getting the 2GB Radeon 6970 from ASUS - but I don't understand how it compares to the new NVidia crap...
I have a question concerning AMD cards. We use a Tesla card for a simulation project. It would be nice to use the cheaper gaming cards, but Nvidia seem to artificially reduce double precision performance of the non-tesla cards. My question is - do the AMD cards outperform the Nvidia non-tesla cards for double precision? Would it be possible for you to make a benchmark comparison between different cards for double precision performance? (of course we would have to rewrite our code from CUDA) Thanks Henrik

Did anyone notice that they're using the ATI and the AMD logos. Are they trying to ease into the re-branding?3DVagabond - Sunday, February 6, 2011 - link

I'm glad AT could summarize the results of the 1GB review. However, is anyone surprised? 1GB is plenty until you pass 1080p.I honestly wonder why the 6950 wasn't offered in 1GB from launch. Will this question be answered in the review?
I see that the 1GB version is slightly cheaper on Newegg. Did AMD want to have a justification to keep the price up?
If it can creep below the $250, AMD will have a winner.

Awesome... signs point to a review with the gtx 560 1 gig vs the 6950 1 gig. Quivering in anticipation!MonkeyPaw - Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - link

Obviously AnandTech cannot publish a review containing GTX 560 benchmark numbers when that chip is still under NDA.DustinF000 - Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - link

Anyone know whether it'll eb possible to unlock this version to a 6970? In that case, it would be a sure winner for that price point.hmronnow - Thursday, January 27, 2011 - link

AFAIK, AMD's Double Precision performance is higher than current nVidia solutions, not by a huge margin though.Gurpal24 - Tuesday, July 12, 2011 - link
Dear RyanI wanted to buy HIS HD 6950 for 3D support, as AMD is introducing first time 3D, is it good to buy this card for 3D.
